Internship Opportunities Available     
 
 
Graduate Level Interns/Practicum Students
 
PURPOSE: The purpose of the counseling practicum is to gain experience and knowledge with counseling skills and treatment planning. The practicum student also provides assistance with daily activities and duties within the office. Master’s level practicum students will be supervised onsite by Kristi Marshall, M.A. Clinical Director and Counselor.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: Hope Clinic for Women is a nondenominational Christian ministry. Our policy requires that all staff and interns have made a commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives. We additionally ask that each practicum student be under the authority of a local church. Practicum students must also be at least 21 years of age, and have completed their master’s level course work to within 9 semester hours of the degree requirements.
 
REQUIREMENTS: All interns must complete additional onsite training before working with clients. The student will then shadow various experienced staff members until it is determined that she/he is ready to start answering crisis phones and seeing her/his own clients. Students are on site 12 hours weekly for two full semesters. Hope Clinic for Women requires that the student remain onsite for the duration of the semester, regardless of early completion of onsite hours.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Crisis intervention/initial pregnancy options counseling
  • Individual counseling for Hope Clinic clients that need ongoing counseling for issues other than pregnancy
  • BRIDGE counseling/Case management
  • Group therapy (as needed)
  • Referral file project (ongoing throughout semester)
  • Various administrative duties
  • Answering crisis calls
  • Promoting Hope Clinic for Women in the community
  • Special Projects

Undergraduate Interns

PURPOSE: To enable student to gain familiarity with non-profit work
